Our Story
We got tired of opening a dozen tabs too.
DressMatcher started with a simple frustration: finding a dress shouldn't take all afternoon. You know what you want. You just can't find it without visiting every retailer one by one. We built a better way.
The problem
Every retailer has its own search, its own filters, its own way of organizing dresses. Looking for a midi wrap dress for a wedding? You'll need to search Nordstrom, then ASOS, then Reformation, then Revolve, each time starting from scratch. By the time you've checked a handful of sites, you're exhausted and ready to settle.
What we built
DressMatcher indexes dresses from hundreds of retailers and lets you search across all of them in one place. You describe what you want in your own words — "midi wrap dress for an outdoor wedding," "short black cocktail dress under $200," whatever fits the moment — and we surface the dresses that actually match, ranked by relevance.
Ranking is based on how well a dress fits your description. Retailers cannot pay for higher placement. We don't sell ads. We don't sell or rent your search history.
How we make money
DressMatcher is free to search. When you click through to a retailer and decide to buy a dress, we may earn a small affiliate commission from that retailer. It doesn't add anything to the price you pay, and it has no influence on which dresses appear higher in your results — only on whether we can keep the lights on.
We use a few standard tools to operate the site: Google Analytics for aggregate usage stats, Stripe for any optional paid features, and affiliate networks (Awin, Rakuten, CJ) to track outbound clicks. Our privacy policy spells out exactly what's collected and why.
How matching works
Each dress in our catalog has structured attributes — length, silhouette, fabric, color, occasion tags, price, sizes, retailer. When you search, we parse your prompt into the same attribute space and rank results by overlap, then break ties on price and availability. There's no hidden boost for sponsored brands, because we don't sell sponsorship.
Prices, sizes, and availability come from each retailer's site and can shift between visits. The retailer's product page is always the source of truth — that's why every "Shop" button takes you straight there.
What we stand for
Relevance over revenue
Results are ranked by how well they match what you described. Retailers can't pay to rank higher.
Honest about what we collect
We use Google Analytics, Stripe, and affiliate networks. Our privacy page lists every one — no hidden trackers, no marketing cookies sold to data brokers.
Real catalog, real links
Every dress links straight through to the retailer's own product page. No middleman cart, no fake stock, no fake prices.
